P6/7J Create Support Systems

After learning about body systems and looking into different types of skeletons, the class were tasked with the challenge of creating a support for a tennis ball using limited resources.

They used only 1m of sellotape and a few bits of paper. See how we got on in our engineering work!...

Pancake Perfection!

P6 tested out their baking skills when they made pancakes this morning. They had to follow a recipe, measure out ingredients, and pour out the mixture in class. 

It took us a few attempts to get the heat right on the pan but we got there.

We Are Scientists!

We conducted our first science experiment. Take a peek!

Earlier in the week, we predicted how many elastic bands it would take to 'explode' a watermelon. Our predictions ranged from 110 to 1,000,000 bands.

After looking at the watermelon and the type of band we were using, we then made a more educated guess. We 'hypothesised'. 

Our new theories were ranging between 400 and 1000 bands. 

We took turns to put the bands on in 5s as Hannah kept a record with tally marks. 

All in all, it took 640 of our elastic bands to 'blow up' the watermelon!

We will look into why the bands were able to 'slice' through the watermelon next week. 

We had a lot of fun being splatted by watermelon. Luckily, we had our protective gear on; poor Mrs Park was directly in the firing line!

There is lots of grass to play on and I adore going on the boat to get there. It is fantastic.

Hello my name is Ronan and my favourite hobbies are playing Fortnite, watching Typical Gamer and playing football. I'm tired most of the time but I'm a happy person inside and I take things seriously.

Hi my name is Niomi. Me and my family’s favourite holiday is at Christmastime when we invite family to eat dinner and spend the rest of the day with us. I’ve always wanted to be a vet, to save all the uncured animals in the world. I used to have twenty four pets - two parrots, eight guinea pigs, five budgies and four hamsters but now I only have five pets altogether. Running and gymnastics are my adored things to do.
